Postpartum Doula Support
Your journey into parenthood will be one of the most significant (and potentially challenging) seasons of your life. Having postpartum doula support can bring confidence and calm in your transition to life with a newborn.
As a postpartum doula, I help you craft a plan for after birth or bringing your baby home (in the case of surrogate birth or adoption). For many parents, the postpartum period is wildly unknown.
The birth as the “big event” often gets all of the attention, but what about after baby arrives?

Did you know that two out of three women have abdominal separation (aka diastasis recti) after giving birth? Postpartum belly wrapping can help you with regaining strength, getting back to pre-pregnancy size, and easing pain. I will teach you how to check yourself for abdominal separation. While you are wrapped, we will talk about your postpartum recovery plans. I can refer you to local providers and resources to aid you in your recovery journey. Sweet words from amazing clients
The weeks and months after your baby arrives home can be filled with all the feelings..
Joy, love, exhaustion, worry, wonder, etc. Having a plan in place for “the fourth trimester” can facilitate a smoother transition. A postpartum doula typically supports your family in preparing for the arrival of and during the first 12 weeks of baby’s life. I recommend you engage a doula prior to birth so that you have a plan in place.
I can help with planning for…
Meal trains
Volunteer help such as mothers/ sisters/ friends
Hired help such as house cleaners or dog walkers

Postpartum support
How a postpartum doula can help…
A postpartum doula is a knowledgeable resource that will guide you through the delicate postpartum stage. I provide informational, emotional, and physical support as you transition into this phase of parenthood. Doula support can include:
-
I offer postpartum belly wrapping services to facilitate faster core recovery. I’m also very experienced with natural healing tools like herbs, essential oils, and using nutrition to aid in healing. Part of your healing journey is also processing your birth experience. As a birth and postpartum doula, I am a listening ear.
-
Establishing a feeding relationship with your newborn is extremely important in the first 12 weeks. I can provide assistance and education and also refer out to IBCLC lactation consultants when needed.
-
I am well connected and networked with the expert providers in our community. You might need to see an infant or postnatal chiropractor, tongue tie specialist, IBCLC, mental health support, or others. Googling for these providers when you’re tired and need them is less than ideal. I will connect you right away.
-
Parents often ask, “Where is the manual for this baby?”. I can help with instruction on swaddling, diapering, bathing, tummy time, cord care, etc.
-
Nutritious meal preparation, light household chores, and much more. You have a new baby. I can help with “cocooning” your family with nourishing food, doing the dishes or laundry, and making sure you get a nap or night sleep by settling baby.
-
As a certified pediatric sleep consultant, I always talk about sleep with my postpartum clients. We will discuss essential tools to optimize your sleep (which is essential for your recovery) and how to use them. Sometimes a postpartum doula will simply hold your baby for contact naps while you sleep or shower. The extra pair of hands often brings sweet relief in those first couple of months.
